Hello! My name is Cecelia Shilling. I'm a communications specialist with a background in print journalism and social media. My work has been featured in The Baltimore Banner, Maryland Matters and in various local newspapers and regional magazines. At the University of Maryland, I studied multimedia journalism with a concentration in anthropology. I focused on news and feature writing at UMD, while also practicing social media, photography and video production. The spotted lanternfly, an invasive, crop-damaging insect, has finished mating season and is preparing to lay egg masses around Maryland, threatening farms and local plants, particularly on the Eastern Shore and in northern Maryland.
